Marie's Wedding Shower

A few weeks ago, I helped host a wedding shower for my friend, Marie. When all the bridesmaids were talking about ideas, we decided a kitchen theme shower would be really cute.  I started researching cute ideas for a kitchen shower. I came across the idea of making a towel cake - like a diaper cake but with towels and kitchen utensils. So of course, I decided I wanted to make it! We decided that would be the hostess gift for the shower and I took on the task of buying all the stuff and making the cake! I bought some of Marie's dish towels and utensils she registered for, and then just mixed them with some white towels and some other cute and useful kitchen items. The base the cake sits on is a wooden cutting board.
I'm so proud of how it turned out! My mom helped me make it, but we really had no instructions to go by. We just played around with ideas of how to make it stand and after about an hour figured it out and it was easy to build then. Here are pictures of the finished product:

We had so much fun throwing Marie's shower! That weekend was also my birthday, but I'll blog about that another day :)
